To the State Board of Education members,
As New Hampshire students go back to school, we all want all students to have the tools they need to learn and succeed. Unfortunately, NH Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut has requested that the State Board of Education approves PragerU’s content for financial literacy courses in New Hampshire public schools. PragerU is not an academic institution and does not give degrees. It is an “edutainment” (educational entertainment) media company founded by conservative talk show host Dennis Prager. In its own words, PragerU “offers a free alternative to dominant left-wing ideology in culture, media, and education.” Their content has denied the horrors of slavery, spread fear, disinformation, and hate against transgender people and Muslims, and has a clear far-right agenda. If we value an honest and inclusive education, we cannot open the door further to propaganda that undermines critical thinking skills, willfully rewrites history, and teaches us to fear each other based on our differences. Vote down Commissioner Edelblut’s recommendation to accept PragerU’s far-right propaganda when you meet Thursday, September 14th. Sincerely,
