Speak out for equity and strong academic standards!

306 Rules Postcard Side 1

This summer, those of us who want all public school students to get an honest education, be themselves, and achieve their dreams, need to pay attention to the draft of the “306 Rules” currently underway.

The 306 Rules are the primary tool of establishing an adequate education in our state. It is the large and detailed compliance document which determines everything from professional certification for educators, to academic standards and accountability for students, to what food is served in the school cafeteria. What goes into the rules being drafted under Governor Sununu’s hand-picked  Education  Commissioner Frank Edelblut will define public education for the next ten years. That’s almost the entirety of the K-12 experience for a student.

The current 306 Rules draft:

  • Eliminates art, music, and physical education in our elementary schools

  • Removes requirements to ensure fairness for all students regardless of race, gender, or other protected classes

  • Removes language that focuses on tailoring lessons to students’ talents and interests

  • Removes the accountability piece in internship programs, opening up students to be exploited for free labor instead of gaining any real learning opportunities.
  • And does not include any attempt to define an adequate and robust education, because Commissioner Edelblut knows that means that public education will have to be fully funded if so!

The State Board of Education 306 Rules listening sessions are on pause for the summer, but in the meantime, we must continue raising our voices and demanding  fully funded, strong, and inclusive public schools.

Please take action today to ensure fully funded, strong, and inclusive public schools!
