Oppose HB 1431 – Support LGBTQ+ Youth

LGBTQ+ youth belong, but sometimes the only place to feel safe is at school. HB 1431 would force teachers and counselors to disclose the confidential information of LGBTQ+ youth – potentially outing them and putting them at risk of harm.

This is an unconscionable attack, and Governor Sununu and state legislators need to hear from you to oppose the bill.

HB 1431 would require mandatory, immediate disclosure to parents about changes in gender identity and expression at school – it would interfere in parent-child relationships, cause harm to LGBTQ+ students, and undermine school efforts to create affirming, inclusive learning environments.

The full NH Senate and NH House are scheduled to vote on HB 1431 on Thursday, May 26th. If it passes, it will head to Governor Sununu's desk. Please take action today!

Use the sample letter to submit a message to the Governor and state lawmakers or call Governor Sununu's office at (603) 271-2121.
